Part 2 of 3 in the Mastering Your Mental Game Series: Focused Attention During a Golf Swing
Train Your Attention, Transform Your Game
In this second edition of Trackman University’s Mental Game Series, we learn another technique to leverage our practice reps with Trackman to unlock a developed skill out on the course: focusing our attention on one thing during our swing.
Most of us spend hours perfecting our mechanics — weight transfer, elbow position, stance — but leave one critical variable completely untrained: where our mind goes during the swing.
The premise is simple: a golf swing lasts about 1.2 seconds, and where your attention lives during those seconds directly shapes the outcome.
One practical starting point from the video is the "Joining the Dots" drill: place a marker or a dot at the center of your club face and another at the center of the ball, then train yourself to connect them mentally throughout the swing.
Then let Trackman's Impact Location and Dispersion data tell you whether it's working — and compare it against other focus approaches to find what works best for your game.
Attention is where performance lives.
You can unify the power of technology with the power of focused attention and expect great results on the course this season.
